First-timer questions
How long does replacing a lawn take?
Plan for a season. Removing the old turf and sowing takes a weekend or two; establishment then runs several weeks to a full season depending on the plant. Most people start in spring or early fall.
Do I have to remove my whole lawn at once?
No — many people start with one problem area (a shady strip, a dog-worn patch, a hot slope) and expand once they see it work. Pick your hardest spot first.
What’s the cheapest way to start?
Seed is far cheaper than sod or plugs over any real area — clover and fine fescue give the most coverage per dollar. The Lawn Finder points you to the right one for your yard.
What if I’m not ready to buy?
That’s fine — start with the basics and browse by need. Nothing here needs a purchase; come back when you’re ready to plant.
