Shipping Policy

Where and how we ship your seed, delivery timing, costs, and the state seed rules that can affect availability.

Last updated: 1 July 2026

Where we ship

Competitive Lawn ships within the United States. Some seed cannot be sent to every state, because states maintain their own noxious-weed and quarantine rules (see “Seed compliance” below). We do not currently offer international shipping, as live seed crossing borders requires phytosanitary certificates and permits that vary by destination country.

Order processing

Orders are typically prepared and dispatched within 1–3 business days. Orders placed on weekends or holidays are processed on the next business day. During seasonal peaks, dispatch may take a little longer, and we will keep you informed.

Carriers, methods, and rates

We ship using established carriers such as USPS and UPS. Available methods and the exact shipping cost are calculated and shown at checkout based on your address and order weight. when they apply.

Delivery estimates

Delivery estimates are provided by the carrier and are not guaranteed. Transit times depend on destination and service level. Once your order ships, we will send tracking so you can follow its progress.

Seed compliance and state restrictions

Seed shipped between states is regulated as a truth-in-labeling matter under the federal Federal Seed Act, and the federal Noxious Weed Act restricts moving federally listed noxious weeds across state lines. In addition, individual states keep their own noxious-weed seed lists and may quarantine or restrict certain species. As a result, a specific product may not be available for shipment to every state. If a state restriction prevents us from sending an item you ordered, we will contact you and refund that item. You are responsible for knowing whether a species is permitted where you intend to plant it.

Tracking, delays, and address accuracy

Please double-check your shipping address at checkout; we are not responsible for orders sent to an incorrectly entered address. Carrier delays caused by weather, peak volume, or other events outside our control may occur. If your tracking has not updated for an extended period, contact us and we will help investigate.

Lost, stolen, or damaged shipments

If a package is lost in transit, or arrives damaged, contact us within a reasonable time of the expected delivery date. Where possible, please keep the packaging and send photos of any damage so we can arrange a replacement or refund and, where relevant, file a carrier claim.

Order changes, PO boxes, and split shipments

If you need to change or cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible; we can usually help before an order has been dispatched, but not once it has shipped. We can ship to most residential and business addresses, including many PO boxes. If your order contains several items, we may occasionally send them in more than one package so that available stock reaches you without delay, at no extra cost to you.

Seed handling and returned parcels

Seed is packed to travel well, and short transit times help keep it in good condition. If a parcel is undeliverable and returned to us — for example because of an incorrect address or an unclaimed delivery — we will contact you to arrange re-shipment; re-shipping costs may apply. If you have any concern about the condition of seed on arrival, keep the packaging and contact us so we can make it right.
